About Demon Soul Simulator:
This is one of the best platformers I’ve played in a long time. It feels like Super Mario 64 meets Banjo Kazooie / Tooie combined with fantastic controls and loads of unique ideas. This feels like a spiritual successor to Super Mario Sunshine. If you’re new to 3D platformers this game can be fun, but you must be patient, try other levels or set other goals if you’re stuck. I find the checkpoint system, which allows you to place checkpoints where you personally need them, really helps make this game never feel frustrating, just challenging. I really hope there’s a sequel in the future. I refunded this game only to buy the XBox version. I just finished the 4th boss, and it’s been so long since I’ve had so much fun on a 3D platformer. I love this game, and I’ll likely buy the Steam version again just to get more levels via the workshop (and to support the fantastic developer more of course). The game starts pretty strong, the character design is really good, especially with how the transformations are merge super cleanly, the environments however are incredibly ugly. This is unfortunately where the game peaks and goes down hill pretty quickly, several levels in world one actually attack my eyes. Combat is pretty terrible, during levels it interrupts the platforming to bounce enemies into spikes using often poor physics. The boss fights are also disappointing for the same reason, and was ultimately the reason I first stared to dislike completing this one, seeing as there are 1-2 hours of combat challenges (optional).
