And I for one think that this is flat out wrong and is the wrong way to judge this game. Yes it is short; a first playthrough will take you about 20 minutes max but that time is some of the most interesting, experimental, and playful the medium has to offer. Tfol smartly plays subverts conventions established by other games and weaves an engaging heist and romantic narrative through its jump cuts. On top of this every single room in tfol is a designers dream and makes use of environmental storytelling and carefully placed objects to guide you through its halls. I also want to point out that TFOL is absolutely worth grabbing if you have any interest in game development–particularly if you’re into developing this kind of game. The director’s commentary is fantastic and really gives a sense for how the game took shape–largely emphasizing the practicality of the decisions and showing how certain models were constructed and why. As someone who knows only a little about the dev side it was really cool to see what design choices formed TFOL and how much of the story and setting was derived out of necessity or accident.
