About Natural Disaster Survival:
I loved disasters in the original sim cities. I don’t “hate” this, but I’ve only played with it a few hours and have run into numerous big issues. I had a tornado hit very early into my new city. It totally missed my city but went over my water pumps and wind generators. It says I had 0 casualties. But I cannot hit the “rebuild” button until it’s searched by survivors by the fire department search and rescue. It wasn’t even unlocked yet. I finally did unlock it, later, and it was $42,000 and I’m at the stage in the game where I have to “save up” to build something like a police station. The tornado busted a bridge on the main (starting) road. When I repaired it, somehow that section of bridge ended up with traffic directional arrows facing each other. Flipping the direction of one arrow flips the other arrow. I needed to demolish the bridge, but didn’t even have highways unlocked… I had an Earthquake. Apparently Earthquakes can destroy even dirt roads. Not damage, but destroy. Unfortunately, this was in a “finnicky” area of my city and it was difficult to place the roads back down again The rescue station is massive, it’s like the size of several hospitals. I had a forest fire. That was no big deal, but I was surprised that my “forestry” industry in the area wasn’t bothered at all by the smoldering ash pit the forest turned into. Why are shelters above ground? This one is very minor: Even if it they weren’t defaulted to be “on” I would have enjoyed nuclear disaster and “godzilla” attack, like the classic sim city. Several of these problems would have been solvable if either fire departments were like very slow disaster rescue units, or they introduced a lower tier disaster rescue units, like how fire departments and police departments are. So, it seems kind of buggy, the disasters feel more like an annoyance than some kind of challenge, the new maps are really difficult, but boring… not sure this is worth the money, even at half off. I give it a solid 3 and a half “meh”s
