About Ro Crash:
Really fun submarine action game, especially for how little time you need to invest in learning the controls and operation of the sub. It’s not a massive time sink like a full sim can be, but also not as basic as the first game in the series, striking what I think is a good balance in that I can choose to play 10-20 minutes at a time or for hours and have fun either way…and I can not play it for a week or two and jump right back into the patrol without forgetting what to do or how to do it, without feeling like it’s too shallow. This game won’t give you the satisfaction of sinking a ship only after carefully classifying it, ranging it and estimating its speed and course manually. That’s all abstracted away behind a progress bar that fills up for as long as you have your targeting computer on and your periscope/binoculars pointed at a ship. Once the bar is full, you have a firing solution that will be used when you launch your torpedoes. On the other hand, instead of simulational detail you get really fast-paced action and you can more easily focus on the tactical aspects of your attack than the details of how it’s implemented. When your targeting computer is off or your periscope is down you have guide lines showing the course of all nearby ships, with time marks so that you can quite easily hit a ship on a steady course even without the targeting computer.
