About RoVille:
Bought it after seeing the trailer posted on Reddit. The concept seems interesting and the gameplay shown in the trailer looks fun, but as of 2020-10-26, this game does not deliver. First off, the menu is clunky and doesn’t have information like key bindings, the “back” button is non-function on the settings menu. There is no “quit” option, you need to alt-f4 out. Going into a game, the opening cinematic has your character shooting zombies, but they couldn’t be bothered to actually have him point his gun at them, he just magically shoots them while in his “idle” animation. You get plunked into wave 1 without any explanation, which isn’t terrible, I can figure out how to shoot zombies. In the break after wave 1, a timer pops up, which is the only indication the wave is over. In further waves, other NPCs show up and you can eventually buy other weapons and build things. Your money is basically unreadable in the bottom left corner. Once you place barriers or whatnot there is no way to get rid of them, so you’d better get it right the first time. The gunplay is very unsatisfying. Reload times feel extremely long and the gun just disappears off screen during the reload. All the guns I tried seemed to sound the same and do more or less the same damage. If I buy a high-calibre hunting rifle, I’d expect it to produce a satisfyingly loud “boom” rather than the same noise as a pistol. Aiming down the sights seems to do little to nothing as far as accuracy. The sound effects and “voice acting” are, charitably, placeholders (I hope).
