About Skate Park:
It’s impossible to talk about this game without mentioning its obvious inspiration from RCT and RCT2, but if anything that is a positive point – Parkitect truly feels like what a modern successor to RCT2 should be. It takes the formula and adds so much, from more detailed scenery options, to more in depth staff management, to greatly enhanced roller coaster design tools. The game is packed full of charm and has plenty of fun scenarios and a campaign system that feels really well balanced. If you’re looking for something to pick up that scratches the same itch as RCT2, but better, you owe it to yourself to pick up Parkitect. A true successor to the good old RollerCoaster Tycoon games with a cute but modern look, supply management, and online co-op! Parkitect not only lets you, but encourages you, to be creative, so as to make your theme park more attractive and to hide the supply infrastructure from the adorable big-headed guests’ eyes. I almost cried when I popped a guest’s balloon (for an achievement) and saw their upset thought “Hey! My balloon…”. Aww. I instantly wished I hadn’t! Anyway, the game is just so fun that it wasn’t until about 50 hours into the co-op campaign with my fiancée that I started actually building my own roller-coasters instead of relying on existing blueprints. Best amusement park builder out there! From a programmer’s point of view this game is an absolute gem as well. It’s nice to see games that actualy runs perfectly smooth these days. Parkitect has instantly become one of my favorite games, probably ever, and I have the feeling my OpenTTD game time might suffer from this!
