About Sword Blox Online Rebirth:
You follow the story of four martial artists clad in flowery silk. They unknowingly embark on an epic journey to uncover the great conspiracy and stop the war between humans, deamons, and gods from happening again. The world is a beautiful chinese mythological fantasy; it is filled with spirits, fallen deities, belligerent daemons, humans trying to amass spiritual power to become immortal and powerfull. The game has excellent graphics and is quite an eye-candy. The art style is consistent and bright. Main characters are detailed and well animated – especially their faces. The sound is authentic instrumental with clear melody. The locations are scenic and have different feel to them. The atmosphere is great. The plot is well-crafted and paced for the most part. It’s the main selling point of the game. It is dramatic and reactive. The main cast does not seem to have a clean end-goal in sight outside the immediate problem. You discover the big conspiracy by accident. Characters are fleshed out. The main cast logically developes through the story. There is some slow-burn romance. The story is self-contained and complete. Half the time playing the game is spent watching beautiful cinematic cutsenes, listening to a conversation between characters, or reading in-game lore. Characters only speak in chinese. There are only English subtitles that at time feel machine translated. You encounter strange phrases like “Why are look so tired?”, “Why is there so noisy?”, “He can be considered retribution”, “We’ve been stolen a lot of things recently.”; inconsistent world terminology (“gentle beasts” = “mild beasts”); mistypos. Reading lore is painful, which is a real shame.
